Supported the reopening of an iconic NYC jazz venue by building a complete onboarding and compliance system. Delivered a trained, fully onboarded team with scalable systems for future hires and improved pre-opening readiness.

Challenge

This Infamous Jazz Club who once welcomed the likes of Billie Holiday & Louis Armstrong was reopening under new leadership and required full administrative and operational setup to support a brand new team. We created and implemented onboarding systems, employee policies, and compliance-ready documentation, ensuring a smooth and scalable launch for over 15 new hires.

Services Delivered

● Collected W-2 forms, IDs, and tax information for all new hires; ensured IRS filing compliance

● Created digital and physical personnel files with signed contracts, emergency contacts, and policy acknowledgements

● Developed and printed onboarding packets including code of conduct, appearance guidelines, and social media usage policies

● Created and presented a dynamic orientation presentation using a projector to engage staff and cover brand history, service standards, and guest experience expectations

● Set up all staff in the Toast POS system and conducted live training sessions on order entry, menu layout, and service flow

● Conducted a full venue tour highlighting FOH and BOH responsibilities, key service zones, and venue culture

● Created a reusable onboarding and orientation template for future team integration

Outcome

● Full FOH team onboarded and trained within five business days 

● W-2s, IRS documents, and personnel files organized and submitted on time 

● POS fully operational with logins assigned and tested pre-opening 

● Clear workplace policies implemented, supporting professionalism and brand consistency
